Ariana Grande Steps Back From Public Eye Amid ‘Endless’ Public Scrutiny

American pop star Ariana Grande is set to take a break from public-facing work after completing her Eternal Sunshine tour on September 1, citing what her representative described as “endless, ongoing public scrutiny.”

Grande’s representative told The Hollywood Reporter that the singer plans to step away from public appearances after wrapping up the tour, allowing her to take a “much-deserved break” following an intense period in the spotlight.

The decision also affects Grande’s acting commitments. She will no longer appear in the London stage production of Sunday in the Park with George, which is scheduled to open at the Barbican in summer 2027. Production company Empire Street Productions said it fully supports her decision.

Grande is also set to star alongside Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller in Focker-in-Law, although it remains unclear whether she will participate in promotional events ahead of the film’s November 25 release.

The announcement comes after renewed public discussion about Grande’s appearance following the release of her eighth album, Petal, and the music video for its title track. Some fans and public figures raised concerns about her noticeably thin appearance.

British model and body positivity activist Charlotte Howard and actor Jameela Jamil were among those who publicly voiced concerns, with comments focusing on the potential impact of such imagery on young audiences.

Grande has previously urged people to avoid commenting on others’ appearance or speculating about their health. In a 2024 interview, she said such comments could be “dangerous” for everyone involved.

For now, Grande is expected to complete her Eternal Sunshine tour before stepping away from the public spotlight for a break.
