One Person Injured in Riyadh as Saudi Air Defences Intercept Houthi Missiles

One person sustained minor injuries after Saudi Arabia’s air defence systems intercepted two ballistic missiles launched by Yemen’s Houthi militia towards Riyadh on Thursday.

The Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen confirmed that both missiles had been intercepted and destroyed before reaching their intended targets.

According to Saudi Civil Defence, the incident caused minor injuries to one person in the capital, while a residential property and a vehicle also suffered damage.

Earlier, Civil Defence authorities had issued security alerts for Riyadh, Najran and Al-Kharj, before declaring the threat had passed approximately 20 minutes later.

The latest incident adds to a series of missile and drone attacks launched by the Iran-backed Houthi group against locations in Saudi Arabia, including civilian infrastructure.

On Wednesday, the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen announced that it had intercepted and destroyed another ballistic missile fired towards Taif, a city in western Saudi Arabia.

A day earlier, debris from two intercepted missiles struck parts of Riyadh, damaging a building, a construction site and a vehicle.

The Kingdom has faced repeated attacks in recent weeks, with airports, energy facilities and urban areas among the reported targets.

In another incident on October 10, a missile strike near Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport reportedly killed 13 travellers and left more than 300 others injured.

The continued attacks have drawn widespread international condemnation of the Houthi movement, which resumed its military campaign in Yemen earlier this year.
