Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari is scheduled to visit Germany from October 22 to 24 to discuss bilateral relations, economic cooperation and trade ties between the two countries.
According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office on Thursday, the visit is part of ongoing high-level exchanges between Pakistan and Germany. This year’s visit holds particular significance as both countries are commemorating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
The Foreign Office stated that the visit reflects the shared commitment of Pakistan and Germany to further strengthen their longstanding partnership.
During his stay, President Zardari is expected to meet German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, along with senior officials and business leaders. Discussions will primarily focus on enhancing economic and trade cooperation.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah is also expected to accompany the president. His possible participation was discussed during a meeting with German Consul General Thomas E. Schultze.
Earlier, in September, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly. During the meeting, Germany acknowledged Pakistan’s mediation efforts in regional conflicts, particularly concerning the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab. Both sides also expressed their commitment to advancing peace negotiations on Ukraine.
In June, a German delegation announced plans to bring approximately 30 German companies to Pakistan to strengthen business partnerships and connect Pakistani enterprises with European markets.
The upcoming visit is expected to provide further opportunities to expand diplomatic engagement, promote trade and investment, and deepen economic cooperation between Pakistan and Germany.
