Security Measures Foil Drone Attack on Hassankhel Police Station

A locally made improvised explosive device (IED), dropped from a quadcopter, failed to damage Hassankhel police station after an anti-drone net installed over the building’s rooftop intercepted the threat, police officials said.

SP Saddar Division Fida Hussain said the explosive device had been assembled using an energy drink bottle packed with explosives, nuts and bolts. He added that the device could have caused damage, but precautionary security measures helped protect the police facility.

According to Hussain, similar anti-drone nets have been installed to safeguard police installations across his jurisdiction, including Badhber and Mattani police stations, as well as Hassankhel police station and other police posts.

Located around 86 kilometres south of Peshawar, Hassankhel police station has faced repeated attacks for some time. The surrounding area shares boundaries with Peshawar, Kohat and Nowshera districts.
