At Least 12 Killed, 22 Injured in Road Accident Near Zero Point in Balochistan’s Uthal

At least 12 people were killed and 22 others injured in a road accident near Zero Point in Uthal, Balochistan, after a passenger coach collided with a minibus, police said.

According to officials, the coach was travelling from Gwadar to Karachi, while the minibus was en route from Bela to Karachi.

The collision occurred near Bela, claiming seven lives at the scene. Five other passengers later succumbed to their injuries at a hospital, officials said.

Abdul Hakeem Lasi, in-charge of the Edhi Centre in Bela, said rescue workers transported approximately 22 injured passengers to a hospital before they were shifted to Karachi for further treatment. He added that seven of the injured were in critical condition.

Most of the fatalities were reported among passengers travelling in the minibus, he said.

The incident follows another fatal road accident in Punjab’s Rajanpur district, where 10 people were killed and 44 others injured after a passenger bus overturned following a collision with a road divider in Rojhan tehsil on the Indus Highway.

In a separate incident last month, two people were killed and 15 others injured when a passenger coach collided head-on with an LPG bowser near Kharkhera Customs on the National Highway in Winder, Balochistan.

Earlier in February, five people, including a local journalist, lost their lives in two separate road accidents in the Winder and Khuzdar districts.

In January, another road accident near Wadh in Khuzdar district on the Quetta-Karachi National Highway claimed four lives and left several others injured.
