A fake notification claiming that educational institutions would observe a three-day holiday has caused confusion among students, parents and teachers after circulating widely on social media.
The fraudulent notification, which carried forged signatures purportedly belonging to officials of the Education Department and Administration Department, was fabricated and circulated across various social media platforms.
The development came despite an official clarification from the Education Department stating that no notification had been issued regarding a three-day closure of educational institutions under orders from either the provincial or federal government.
Despite the clarification, the false information continued to circulate on social media for three consecutive days.
Another statement, purportedly issued by the Administration Department, was later circulated online regarding holidays at educational institutions. Many parents, teachers and students believed the statement to be genuine, leading to further confusion.
However, a federal government notification issued on Thursday as part of cost-cutting measures made no mention of a three-day holiday for educational institutions or government offices on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
