An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Saturday granted post-arrest bail to PTI activist Falak Javed in a case involving an alleged attack on Islamabad police officials outside Zaman Park.
Judge Malik Abid Hussain approved Javed’s bail application and directed her to furnish surety bonds of Rs100,000.
The prosecution presented the case record before the court, while Javed’s counsel concluded arguments on the bail petition.
Defence counsel argued that Javed was a woman and was therefore entitled to bail under the law. He said the investigation had been completed and there was no justification for keeping her in custody.
The state opposed the bail application, alleging that Javed was involved in an attack on Islamabad police officials outside Zaman Park. The prosecutor also claimed that a petrol bomb had been recovered from her during the investigation.
According to the prosecution, Islamabad police had visited the residence of PTI founding chairman Imran Khan to serve summons when party workers allegedly attacked the officials with petrol bombs, injuring several policemen.
Racecourse police subsequently registered FIR No. 410/2023 in connection with the alleged incident.
Separately, the ATC on Saturday extended the pre-arrest bail of Imran Khan’s sisters, Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan, along with several other PTI leaders in multiple cases related to violence, including the May 9 riots.
The two sisters, along with former federal ministers Asad Umar, Azam Swati and Fawad Chaudhry, appeared before the court following the expiry of their previous bail period.
The court extended their pre-arrest bail until October 6.
