Karachi Court Acquits Alleged Drug Trafficker Anmol, Also Known as Pinky, in Two More Cases

A Karachi court has acquitted alleged drug trafficker Anmol, also known as Pinky, in two additional narcotics cases registered in 2018 and 2021, citing insufficient evidence.

The first case was registered by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in 2018, while the second was lodged at the Gizri police station in 2021.

Anmol, who had been declared a proclaimed offender in both cases, had filed separate applications under Section 265-K of the Code of Criminal Procedure, which empowers a court to acquit an accused at any stage of the proceedings.

She appeared before the South additional sessions judge through a video link during the hearing of her applications. The court subsequently acquitted her in both cases due to a lack of evidence.

The court also directed that she be released from jail if she was not required in any other case.

Her brother, Nasir, had already been acquitted in the 2018 case.

In August, a sessions court acquitted Anmol in three narcotics cases registered at Karachi’s Gizri police station.

Her arrest came to light in May when she appeared before a Karachi court. She had been arrested in connection with two cases registered at the Garden police station involving alleged possession of narcotics and an unlicensed weapon.

The case attracted public attention after a video showing her being escorted to court without handcuffs went viral on social media.
