Lahore Sessions Court Rejects Bail Plea of Bank Robbery Suspect Linked to PUBG

Additional District and Sessions Judge Sarfraz Ahmad has rejected the bail application of Subhan Ali, who is accused of robbing a bank in Lahore’s Bhatta Chowk area.

South Cantonment police registered a first information report (FIR) against the suspect over the alleged robbery of Rs700,000. According to the case details, the suspect allegedly carried out the robbery after receiving a task while playing the online game PUBG. He reportedly went to his under-construction house after the incident.

Police said they recovered the allegedly stolen cash, a vehicle and a weapon believed to have been used in the crime from the suspect’s residence.

In his ruling, the judge observed that the alleged offence fell within the prohibitory clause of Section 497 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). He further noted that the available evidence prima facie provided sufficient grounds to connect the suspect with the alleged crime.

The defence counsel also argued that the suspect was mentally ill and suffered from a psychotic disorder. However, the court dismissed this argument, observing that no record had been presented to establish that any competent authority or forum had declared the suspect mentally unsound.
