The state broadcaster said in a post on X that the intelligence-based operation (IBO) was carried out in the Palantak area of Washuk as part of the ongoing Operation Radul Fitna against groups designated by the state as Fitna al Hindustan.
The government has used the term Fitna al Hindustan for Balochistan-based militant groups, alleging their involvement in terrorism and destabilisation efforts in Pakistan.
According to PTV, the two militants killed in the operation were allegedly involved in attacks on the Mashkhel police station and the Customs House.
“The terrorists’ vehicle was destroyed during the operation, while a large quantity of weapons and ammunition was also recovered,” the broadcaster said.
The development comes a week after 11 militants were killed in separate intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
A monthly security assessment released by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies on July 31 said Balochistan recorded the sharpest deterioration in its security situation during July.
The report said the overall number of deaths in the province rose by 241 per cent, from 109 in June to 372 in July.
Deaths among security personnel increased from six in June to 62 in July, a 933pc rise, while militant deaths increased from 75 to 238. Civilian fatalities also rose by 93pc, from 28 to 54.
The report further said 18 members of peace committees were killed in Balochistan during the month.
