Trump Weighs Swift End to Iran War as Turkey Warns Against Renewed Attacks

US President Donald Trump has indicated that Washington could bring the war with Iran to an end quickly or allow the conflict to gradually lose momentum, as tensions continue across the region.

“We could end it very quickly,” Trump told reporters on the White House South Lawn before departing for Florida. He questioned whether the United States should finish the conflict decisively or allow it to “wither.”

Trump also claimed that Washington was achieving its objectives, adding that oil shipments were continuing through the Strait of Hormuz.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan warned on Friday that renewed attacks on Iran would further expand the war and instability across the region.

Speaking to reporters after an R4+E3 meeting in Istanbul, the first gathering in this format, Fidan said military intervention in Iran was not a solution and that there was currently no support for such a move.

Reports have indicated that the United States and Israel have developed plans for possible renewed strikes against Iran following the US midterm elections.

The conflict, which began in late February, remains unresolved despite a ceasefire and a memorandum of understanding intended to pave the way for a final peace agreement.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Army Ground Forces commander, Brigadier General Jahanshahi, has instructed military commanders to maintain the highest level of combat readiness, according to Iranian media reports.

Jahanshahi warned that negligence or carelessness during wartime could carry serious consequences. He stressed the importance of continuous training, accurate assessments of military capabilities, coordination between units and the prompt identification of operational weaknesses.

He also directed commanders to strengthen combat capabilities through detailed planning, continuous supervision and effective monitoring.

The directives come amid heightened tensions between Iran and the United States following months of hostilities and continued disputes over regional security and maritime navigation through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
