Two civilians martyred in quadcopter attack in Bannu

Police launched a joint counterterrorism operation in Bannu following the incident, under the supervision of District Police Officer Captain (retd) Mohammad Furqan Bilal.

Personnel from the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Bannu region, Elite Force and district police, along with members of a local peace committee, participated in the operation.

According to police, the area was cordoned off before the operation began. An exchange of fire between security personnel and the suspected militants also took place.

Police said one militant was killed during the operation and his body was recovered from the area. Officials further claimed that several other militants were killed or seriously injured.

However, police said the difficult mountainous terrain allowed the militants to remove the bodies of their dead and injured associates from the area.

A search and clearance operation remained underway as security personnel continued to comb the surrounding area.

Police said operations against militants involved in attacks on civilians would continue with full force and determination.

Security forces and law-enforcement agencies remain on high alert to protect residents and maintain peace and order across the district.
