Police have registered a case against TikToker Anser Mahmood, popularly known as Mr Patlo, and several others after a stampede at his mehndi ceremony in Sialkot claimed two lives and left several people injured. Six suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident.
Police said Mr Patlo and other nominated suspects remain at large, with efforts underway to take them into custody.
According to the first information report (FIR), nine individuals, including Mr Patlo, have been nominated in the case, while 45 unidentified people have also been named. One of the injured victims, identified as Rehan, died on Sunday after being shifted to Lahore in critical condition. Police confirmed that he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
The wedding celebrations had been underway for several days, with Mr Patlo sharing photographs and videos of the events on his social media accounts.
The FIR, registered on the police’s complaint, stated that the mehndi ceremony was held on Saturday evening at Faraz Cricket Ground on Daska Road. Mr Patlo had reportedly used social media to invite people by announcing prizes, including a car, motorcycles and other gifts, drawing a large crowd to the venue.
According to the FIR, Mr Patlo later appeared on stage and asked attendees to enter the ground immediately. The sudden rush of people towards the entrance triggered a stampede, resulting in the death of a man identified as Aqeel at the scene.
