55,000 Policemen Deployed Across Punjab for Eid-i-Milad Security

Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abdul Kareem said the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), along with regional and district police officers and field personnel, would monitor major Eid Miladun Nabi gatherings across the province.

He said security would remain on high alert during Eid Miladun Nabi programmes, with strict surveillance of suspected miscreants and anti-state elements.

According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, more than 55,000 officers and personnel would be deployed to secure 1,436 Milad gatherings and 2,479 processions across the province. In Lahore, 216 processions and 111 Milad gatherings are scheduled to be held.

The spokesperson said more than 8,000 police officers, personnel and volunteers would perform security duties in the provincial capital.

The IGP directed police officials to ensure strict security arrangements in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all processions, rallies and gatherings on 12th Rabiul Awwal. He also ordered the deployment of additional personnel at sensitive locations.

He further directed authorities to use Safe City surveillance cameras to monitor gatherings and rallies.
