The government has warned the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) against proceeding with its planned nationwide protest and march towards Islamabad on September 27, urging the party to reconsider its course of action.
The warning comes as PTI prepares to hold demonstrations demanding the release of its incarcerated founder.
The government said the party would not achieve its objectives through protests and urged its leadership and workers to avoid actions that could lead to confrontation or disruption.
Authorities also warned that there would be no gaps in the government’s response if the protest went ahead. The government said it would implement existing court orders concerning demonstrations and public movement in Islamabad.
The government further claimed that a majority of PTI leadership was not in favour of the planned march, while urging the party to adopt a different approach and avoid putting its workers at risk.
On the possibility of a long-term solution to recurring PTI protests, the government said efforts would be made to address the issue on a permanent basis rather than leaving it unresolved.
Regarding the demand for a hospital medical examination of the party’s incarcerated founder, the government said a medical check-up may already have been conducted at a hospital.
It added that any treatment required would be provided in accordance with the law, while stressing that decisions regarding medical treatment would be made according to legal procedures.
