Israeli strikes killed five Palestinians in Gaza, according to local authorities, as violence continued despite ongoing efforts to maintain a ceasefire.
Gaza’s civil defence agency said three bodies were recovered from the site of Israeli strikes in Al-Qarara, east of Khan Yunis. Nasser Hospital identified the victims as members of the same family, aged 42, 42 and 28.
Gaza authorities later reported two more deaths, including one person killed in a drone strike near Gaza City.
The latest Gaza deaths came as Israel carried out a rare air strike in the occupied West Bank, killing a Palestinian it identified as a Hamas fighter and two other people.
The strike hit a vehicle near Jenin in the northern West Bank, according to the Israeli military and medical officials.
The Israeli military identified the main target as Qais Bitawi. Hamas confirmed his death and condemned the attack, while Islamic Jihad said he was a senior member of its armed wing.
The northern West Bank has witnessed increased Israeli military operations and attacks by settlers against Palestinians. Jenin was also the scene of a major Israeli military operation last year, which Israel said targeted armed groups.
The Palestine Red Crescent said Israeli ground forces raided the site following the air strike, briefly detained medical workers and prevented ambulances from taking the dead and wounded to hospital.
The Israeli military did not immediately respond to the Red Crescent’s allegations.
