Thousands of Sikh pilgrims from Pakistan and other countries have begun arriving in Kartarpur to participate in three-day religious ceremonies marking the death anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak.
Pilgrims from Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and other parts of the world are reaching Gurdwara Darbar Sahib to attend the ceremonies.
Men, women and children are paying their respects by offering chadars and bowing in reverence at the Samadhi and grave associated with Baba Guru Nanak.
Arrangements have been made for the accommodation and meals of the visiting pilgrims at the gurdwara. Medical camps, Rescue 1122 teams and other support units have also been deployed to provide assistance.
Security has been strengthened at the gurdwara and surrounding areas, with unauthorised entry prohibited. The gurdwara and Kartarpur city are being monitored through CCTV cameras as part of the security arrangements.
As part of the traditional ceremonies, the pilgrims are scheduled to take out a Nagar Kirtan procession from Gurdwara Darbar Sahib towards the Pakistan-India border and participate in religious rituals.
